Ruth's Story
Ruth was born and raised in the Northwest and moved to Bellevue in the early 80s to work for a small software company at the dawn of the technology revolution. As one of the early employees of Microsoft, Ruth worked out of the offices next to the Burgermaster in North Bellevue. Ruth worked as a Software Design Engineer at Microsoft from 1983 to 1994.
She has been active in our community for over 35 years including volunteering on the Newport High School PTSA, Bellevue PTSA Council, and the Bellevue Botanical Garden Society. She is a graduate of the Bellevue Essentials course and served on the board of the Open Window School. Ruth is the former president of the Homeowner's Association of the Newport Shores neighborhood.
Ruth has been active in our state's civic conversations as well, including as a co-founding board member of the Progress Alliance of Washington, board member of Fuse Washington, member of Indivisible Eastside, board member for the League of Education Voters, Steering Committee member for Washington Women For Choice PAC, and member of Social Venture Partners.
She lives with her husband, Terry, in Newport Shores and has a grown daughter who graduated from Newport High School. In her spare time she fosters kittens for local shelters.
